Mexican Cabbage Salad

I have eaten at enough authentic mexican restaurants to know I got this one right.

1/2 bag shredded cabbage
1 tomato, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
1/2 lemon, squeezed
2 T. green onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
In medium bowl, combine all ingredients, mixing well. May omit tomatoes and peppers. Serve as side dish, or in place of shredded lettuce for Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, tostados, etc. Serves 6.

this is almost exactly what I was looking for. The recipe is just fine as it is. As a personal preference .. I would add some cilantro and substitute lime for the lemon.
